Sergeant Punishment (Story)
I'm not going to make any commentary as to rightness or wrongness of administering "corporal" punishment on students. Admittedly, there are some students who are unruly, undisciplined, and are unresponsive to less than corporal punishment; however, I will say that to allow students to perpetrate malice on others (teachers, staff, and other students) should not be tolerated. To continue a policy of tolerance toward willfully malicious behavior of students on others is contrary to the maintenance of good order and morale.

Let us recognize the civil rights of ALL students and parents. When a student violates the civil rights of others (students, teachers, or staff) with profane language, willfully defiant behavior, or harassment toward others, the perpetrator must be censured. An administration treading lightly around the civil rights of the perpetrator is, by default, trampling heavily on the civil rights of everyone else. The wrong doer is, by their nature, denying others from access to a physically and psychologically safe learning environment.

Let us first honor and recognize the civil rights of students, parents, teachers, and staff who desire to learn and behave considerately toward others. If a student chooses to be disrespectful of others and their rights, they must be denied the opportunity to encroach upon the rights of others - expulsion!
