Side by Side at 2 days

I just wanted to see these two pictures side by side. They seemed to be so different and it is so hard to remember what K looked like at that age that I had to go back to her photos and compare the two. I think they look the same.

Big Sister Meets Little Brother

K is meeting E for the first time. "Baby! Baby cry?" Are K's first words upon meeting her little brother. She was so worried that he was unhappy. She was both caring and very gentle with him. K has been a good trooper while staying with Grandpa/Grandma B. She stayed overnight with her grandparents while mommy and daddy were at the hospital.

One Happy Dad

Words cannot describe or do justice to the feelings one has when holding your newly born child.

A Pair of Proud Parents

Here we are moments after his birth, mommy, daddy, and new baby! Our first family photo. Obviously DS and DW are exhausted and DH is still buzzing on adrenaline.

A New Addition to our Family

Please welcome our newest member of the family. He arrived on July 9, 2009 @ 7:03PM. He's a big boy at 8 lbs, 7 oz. and 21".

Although we weren't planning on an induction, we felt that for the safety of our son it was necessary. Mommy's AFI was dangerously low at the 40 wk 5 day appointment. We stayed at the hospital and the induction was started just as soon as possible.

Luckily, Grandma B was on hand to help talk Mommy through her transition contractions. Mommy made it through all 7 hours of labor.

Splashing with the Frog

video
K really loves the water. She was asking to be sprayed with water when mommy was working on K's hair. So we got the idea that maybe she'd like to go play in her inflatable pool. She'd didn't like it much last year. Today, we couldn't pull her away from it. She has always loved playing in the water; this is just more evidence.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

It's was grandma's birthday. She chose Outback. So, we all got a taste of a bloomin' onion and savory steaks. Being grandma's birthday, she got a free sundae. The rest of us order a Chocolate Thunder - Yummy! K really wanted to make her rounds and walked around the restaurant, but she really like this relief map of Australia. Everyone had a great time.

Hair Do 2

Mommy can do lots of different things with my hair. She knows what when it's hot outside, my neck gets hot and sweaty. It's uncomfortable to be hot and sweaty and nobody wants a fussy toddler. Mommy lets me watch my favorite show on TV as long as I sit still while my hair is being done. Luckily for both mommy and me, it only takes 30 minutes to do my hair. Yea, mommy!

Manny's in Town

Living in the "styx" of Los Angeles, we don't get out to the "Ravine" very often - in fact I don't think "S" has ever been there. So I think we find ourselves lucky when major league players come out here for a few at bats. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any big hits and since we didn't originally plan to be at a game on a Monday evening, we found ourselves in deep right field, practically the last seats on the first base line; we were in the front row, but the visiting bullpen folks were in our view sometimes. Still, it was a fun night.

Playing with Blocks: Home Movies

video
Way back when I was her age, home movies meant you had a movie camera and film. If you had the money, you'd have plenty of movie film and you tried to film some memorable moments of your children as they grew up. If you got lucky you'd capture those moments on film; if your children where lucky, the film survived until they were old enough to enjoy watching them. Fortunately for me, we live in a digital age of ease. Thus, we can capture our daughter do the everyday things she does. Moreover these short films are filled with everything I want to remember. I suppose these movies are more for me than they will ever be for my daughter. As mundane as these few seconds of play may seem, they mean the world to me. Mommy filmed these precious moments; I'm so envious and lucky that my wife recorded them.

Some last thoughts on the subject. Father's Day was the day before this clip was filmed. (AND this last Father's Day was the BEST) These few frames are the best Father's Day gift ever! Thanks Honey for the present you didn't even know you gave me.

More Ponytails

Mommy has to go to work today to get her things packed from the classroom. K needs her hair off her neck so she doesn't sweat up a storm. No time for French Braids today, so it's a Tri-Fecta of pony tails.

Hair Do!

Go Mommy! French braids aren't easy or fast. It took an entire Little Einsteins episode, but there you have it.

It's been warm and getting warmer as summer really starts to hit its stride so mommy has been looking for way to get K's hair off her neck.

Doesn't our daughter look fabulous?

Out at the ball park

She doesn't actually watch the games, but we've taken her to games. This is our second year as season ticket holders and we plan to do so next year. It isn't big league, mind you, but it is a good family night out.

I Know what I want to be...

video
when I grow up. It'll have to be something where I can use a computer. I don't care if I'm a writer or engineer so long as I'm at the keyboard of a computer getting to look at what I've created with immediate satisfaction. I'm only 21 mos. and I've got this keyboard thing down!

Grandma was watching me while mommy and daddy were out watching movies and eating dinner. I hope Silicon Valley still has room for me when I grow up.

How Old Do I Look?

As some of you may know, it was my b-day yesterday. To celebrate, we went to a movie and dinner. I chose Outback Steakhouse in Buena Park, partly because I like the steaks at Outback and because of the close proximity of the restaurant to the theater we picked.

Since I usually don't have alcoholic drinks, I decided I would have one on my birthday. I turned 43 yesterday. I ordered my drink and the waitress "carded" me. Both S and I started laughing. My response was, "Really?" Do I look that young?

I thought that was cool.

Here comes the shameless plug for Outback, Buena Park.

The best part was at the end. S and I really like the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under (it's a really good dessert!) So when the waitress came back, we said we'd like to order dessert. She said that we'd get a sundae because of my birthday. I told her I didn't really need the sundae, because we wanted the CTfDU. She offered to talk to the manager about maybe taking a couple of dollars of the bigger dessert for us. I figured you don't get if you don't ask. A few minutes later the manager comes up and tells us that he'd like us to have the CTfDU on the house. I was totally shocked - and exceptionally pleased. Later after the bill was settled, our waitress comes by again and gives me a birthday card with a card for a free bloomin' onion. Wow!

We are already big fans of Outback, great food, great service, what's not to like? But... with servers and managers like that, we have to recommend that if you're in the BP area, go to Outback, Buena Park!

Guitar Hero 3 The Legends of Rock

video
Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock doesn't officially have drums, but K doesn't care. She loves to rock out with daddy. Given the choice between playing Bass or Drums, K chooses the drums.

Morphing

While we were visiting the Disney's A Christmas Carol Train event over Memorial Day Weekend, we had ourselves morphed into characters from the movie. K was Tiny Tim, S was Scrooge, and E was Jacob Marley.

Not to be outdone

Little Brother's getting all the attention, so I had to do some cute stuff...here goes:

First, I wanted back into the changing room.  Let me in!  Let me in!  I didn't want you to change my clothes!!!!!

Next, I had some fun play time with Daddy.  We played with a music toy and read books.

Last, I danced for Mommy, but that might have to be another post.

Here's the video of me dancing.  I love to dance!

It's a Boy!

Our son was napping during the 3d/4d ultrasound session this morning, but we're certain of two things. It's a boy and he's got lots of hair. Evidently, he likes to sleep with his hands near his face; this shot is cropped, but if you were to look at the raw footage, you would have seen lots and lots of his hands. Although we didn't post it here (and we're not going to) we now have photographic evidence of his boyhood; thus, it erases any doubt of his gender.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Here I am with my cousin, C. We're having the best time waiting for dinner on Memorial Day. We're at grandma's house. She has the best chairs to climb on - Oh, and stairs, too. I love stairs.
